Tampa Bay Advertising Federation Announces
New ADDY Committee
TAMPA, FLORIDA, February 4, 2008/ -- The Tampa Bay Advertising Federation announces the formation of an ADDY Regulatory Committee (ARC). The purpose of the committee is to respond to and, if necessary, investigate challenges to any ADDY entries.
“The ADDY guidelines lay out how and what’s eligible to enter”, says Mike Quigley, TBAF president. “For instance, the work must have run in the calendar year, it must be entered in the correct category, and it can’t be created solely for the purpose of winning an award. It has to be created and paid for by a client and appeared in the appropriate channel.”
Winning an ADDY award at the local level entitles an entry to move up to the district ADDYs and, if it wins there, to the national ADDYs. The national ADDY Awards is the largest and most representative creative advertising competition in the country. In an already competitive business, the prestige of being an ADDY winner makes the awards the most important program conducted by the American Advertising Federation nationally.
“Because of the importance of the ADDYs, and because the number of entries has doubled since 2000, we wanted to form the ARC to make sure our entries are valid and our members have a place to go with challenges,” continued Quigley. “It’s very important that we maintain the integrity of the awards.”
The committee is made up of TBAF trustees, who are past presidents of the board. They are authorized to query agencies, request media receipts, contact clients and, if necessary, disqualify entries.
